Melissa McClung is a filmmaker, writer and educator based in Western Massachusetts. Melissa's short films have won both local and national awards. Her most recent film, Gale and the Fish, was produced with a production grant from Northampton Community Television and features an all-New England cast and crew.
Melissa teaches film at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public High School. For years, Melissa also worked with adolescents at Deerfield Academy Summer Arts Camp. She finds collaborating with young art-makers keeps her mind open to the full spectrum of creative possibilities in art.
Previously, Melissa worked in the communications office at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA. She shot and edited documentary footage on a daily basis, honing her technical and visual storytelling skills along the way. In addition, she was a staff writer for the alumni magazine, where she often had the classroom beat.
Melissa graduated from Vassar College in 2012. During her time there, she studied adolescent education, film production and creative writing.
